2025-06-04

The manner of the recent communications about the future direction for Inspector and Capability Testing has been high-handed, unilateral and not through the expected channels of planning or management. I have lead this work, apparently with management support, for some time so the way this change of direction has been allowed to happen makes my position at Elsevier untenable. Please consider this notice of my resignation, effective immediately.

Previous draft too harsh As Paul is on vacation I am writing to you to ask what you envisage me doing in the short and medium term since Garrett reports an agreed decision to rewrite the Inspector and Captest work that I have been leading for some time now? Implicitly, this is clearly a rejection of the work I have contributed. I also regard the lack of management direction over many months when I was left to believe I had support followed by its withdrawal as potentially contribution to a constructive dismissal. Furthermore, as I reported to Paul, bringing the entire build team to a call effectively to overrule the de facto approach rather than it coming through normal planning and management channels feels a lot like bullying.
